Your menu:
Plăcinte cu brânză, Savoury filo cheese pies: learn to make a type of filo pastry that follows a no-fail technique. They have a cheese filling, but there are endless variations, both savoury and sweet.
Paleuri, Rum Chocolate Sandwich Cat’s Tongues: moreish and looking apart, these cookies are perfect for parties, especially when served with a glass of bubbly. The filling features a popular flavour combination in Romania: chocolate and rum. You will learn an unusual recipe for cats’ tongues, which comes together within minutes.
Prăjitură cu cireșe, Sour cream cake with cherries: a one-tin-bake recipe, this cake has a secret ingredient (hint: sour cream) that makes it as light as a feather. It’s a blueprint recipe since you can use any fruit in season, and Irina will talk you through all the possibilities.
Mucenici, Moldavian saffron buns: these brioche buns are soaked in sweet syrup, sprinkled with chopped walnuts and drizzled with honey. This is a recipe specific to a traditional agricultural calendar.
Găluște cu căpșuni, Strawberry dumplings: a fantastic recipe from Central and Eastern Europe of a dessert that is unusual to the UK. These dumplings are filled with fruit, simmered in water, and then rolled in cinnamon breadcrumbs.
A selection of dishes will be served as lunch, you will take home everything else.
Please bring a selection of containers to take for food home in – thank you!
